Reference Manuals on the download and basic usage of the EndNote Software

What is Endnote?

This Libguide is for the reference of University of Malaya students and staff for the downloading of the EndNote software provided by Jabatan Teknologi Maklumat (Department of Information Technology).

*Note: Issues with installation and incompatibility with other software or devices can be forwarded to JTM.

EndNote is a reference manager software program that allows you to collect and organize your references and to create bibliographies. It allows you to either type in or capture references from our Electronic Resources. Using EndNote, you can create bibliographies within Microsoft Word or other word-processors. EndNote is able to format bibliographies in almost every conceivable bibliographic citation style, such as APA, Chicago Manual of Style, MLA, Turabian, Science and other journal-specific bibliographic citation styles.

You can read further on EndNote @ https://libguides.lib.msu.edu/endnote

*Note: Please note that functions may defer based on the version installed by users.

Backing-up your EndNote Desktop library (Compressed Library)

When should you archive your ENDNOTE library?

  • Transferring your library into a new device
  • Sharing your references with other researchers
  • Recommendations: Archive your library as when you see suitable (if you are adding a lot of resources to your library daily) or a minimum of every 6 months to ensure always having an updated version of your library available. You can store your compressed libraries in a cloud folder, email it to yourself or have a copy in your hard drives.
