Biohealth, Bioinformatics & Biotech: Associations and Societies

MSMBB is a non-profit organisation that was established in 1988, with the following objectives:
picture 2to promote communication among scientists in the field of molecular biology, cellular biology and biotechnology in Malaysia
to contribute to the advancement of molecular biology, cellular biology and biotechnology
to promote collaboration with other related organizations in the areas of research, education, training and publications.

The Malaysian Biochemical Society was founded in 1973 by biochemists from the University of Malaya, Universiti Pertanian Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and the Rubber Research Institute of Malaysia. However, the formation of the society was largely the effort of the staff of the Biochemistry Department of the University of Malaya, being the oldest university in the country.

Malaysia Genome Institute (GENOM MALAYSIA) is a network-based not-for-profit research organization engaging in discovery research on tropical bioresources through projects on genome sequencing, comparative and functional genomics and structural biology.

GENOM MALAYSIA's research programme embraces the balanced approach of technology and market-driven innovation adopted in the National Innovation Model.
